Catherine Kaleel was born in Lowell, Massachusetts. She was raised in Andover, Massachuestts, 25 minutes north of Boston. Her mother, Signe Kaleel, is an established artist in pottery, block printing, and fiber arts. She supported Catherine's artistic skills by having art materials needed at her diposal (and creation). Although Catherine enjoyed everything from playing the guitar and oboe to running around on the soccer field, the visual arts were always her passion.
In the spring of 1999, Catherine moved to San Francisco, California and started her first semester studying traditional animation at the Academy of Art University. Her drawing skills and color studies prospered, but she needed more than what animation could offer for her vision. In the spring of 2003, Catherine switched majors to Fine Art with the emphasis of painting and took off with her brush like a storm.
Catherine can be seen not only the art circle but around the music and fashion scene as well, picking up inspiration from the world around her.
